A common struggle for ambitious professionals is displaying Executive Presence and the ability to command a room full of senior executives.
It’s one thing to be great at what you do and another to command a space.
Many people have been told some version of:
“You are great. You deliver results. Build great teams. Have a good reputation…but you lack the gravitas to be an executive.”
Part of the problem is the feedback is often ambiguous and not actionable. To make matters worse, usually, the person giving feedback is unsure about what they exactly mean.
Simply being told “You need to be more executive-like” or “You need to display stronger leadership presence” is unhelpful.
To help unpack this topic, I’ve teamed up with Harriette Cole, leadership coach and media trainer to Fortune 100 executives and famous Grammy-winning music artists such as Alicia Keys and Queen Latifah.
On February 12 (Monday), we will host a live online fireside chat to discuss:
What clearly shows that someone has Executive Presence?
Tips on how someone can develop and demonstrate Executive Presence.
How to command the room in a high-stakes business meeting where you are the least senior person (a nerve wracking situation for many).
Harriette will share how she coaches famous musicians who are constantly in the press.
Thoughts and advice for women on how to command the room as many have shared it is more challenging to stand out.

To give you a preview of what to expect in our upcoming event, Harriette answered audience-submitted questions on Executive Presence.
Q1: What exactly is “Executive Presence?”
Preparation + Confidence + Full Focus = Executive Presence.
Q2: How do you effectively handle critical feedback during the meeting in a way that is assertive but doesn’t come across as defensive?
Q3: How to handle rapid fire, obviously difficult to stump you questions?
Q4: How do I command the room, especially if I am an outsider in some way or do not have formal authority?
Q5: How do I improve my body language and non-verbal cues to project confidence?
Q6: How to help reduce my Irish accent so others can keep up?
Harriette: There is discrimination when it comes to accents. Some are considered sexy and commanding; some not so much. I work with a lot of clients on being able to be better understood when they are speaking English as a second language or even just with a non-commercial accent. The most important thing to do is to SLOW DOWN.
If you want to go deeper on building your Executive Presence, starting February 7 (Wed), Harriette is teaching the live online course Speak Like An Executive - Next Level Public Speaking & Presentation Skills.
